Name Therapy
Every person knows their own name. Few truly know themselves.
In the rush of daily life, we become occupied with responsibilities, relationships and the expectations of others. We spend so much time looking outward that we often lose sight of the person Allah created us to be.
Name Therapy is one of the special spiritual practices (Faiz) shared through the teachings of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA). This practice encourages a person to reconnect with themselves, recognize the blessings Allah has placed within them and develop the confidence to face life with patience and hope.
The purpose of Name Therapy is not simply to repeat a name. It is to rediscover the person behind the name.
Why Name Therapy?
Before we can improve our lives, we must first understand ourselves.
Many people recognise their weaknesses but overlook their strengths. They become overwhelmed by self-doubt, compare themselves with others and begin searching for happiness through external approval.
Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA) would remind people that many spend their lives improving only what the world can see, while neglecting the person within.
Real confidence grows from knowing yourself, recognising your strengths and trusting the abilities Allah has already placed within you.
As self-awareness increases, many people find themselves becoming more patient, more resilient and less dependent upon praise or approval from others.
Name Therapy encourages us to pause, turn our attention inward and appreciate the blessings Allah has already placed within us.
The Purpose of Name Therapy
Before we can improve our lives, we must first understand ourselves.
According to the teachings of Qalandar Baba Bukhari(RA), Name Therapy is intended to help strengthen:
- Self-awareness
- Self-confidence
- Self-worth
- Patience
- Emotional resilience
- Gratitude for Allah’s blessings
As people begin to recognise their strengths and abilities, they often become less dependent on the approval of others and better equipped to deal with stress, disappointment and negative thinking.
The practice encourages the believer to focus on personal growth rather than constantly expecting others to change first.
How to Practice Name Therapy – Method
Three times each day:
- Sit in a quiet place.
- Close your eyes.
- Put an alarm near you for 5 minutes
- Repeat only your first name in your heart for five minutes
