Remedy for Sugar (Diabetes) Patients

One of the frequently asked questions answered
by Waris-e-Qalandar, Syed Baba is:

“Is there a spiritual practice that can help
me while living with diabetes?”

Syed Baba shares a simple practice from the Faiz of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA) that encourages believers to remember Allah while eating. The purpose of this practice is to strengthen one’s connection with Allah, eat with presence rather than distraction and place complete trust in Him, while continuing to use the means He has provided.

As Qalandar Baba (RA) always said:

“Do something small, but do it consistently.”

The Method

During breakfast, lunch, and dinner —

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Take a moment to think of Allah giving you Shifa (healing).
  3. Make your first bite, Say “Allah” once, with eyes closed.
  4. Chew your first bite, then open your eyes.
  5. Make your second bite, close eyes, say “Allah” again
  6. Repeat this 3 times — before the first 3 bites.

Guideline

• Do it morning, afternoon, and dinner.
• Do not rush the process.
• Give yourself time.
• Normalise your breath.
• Do not allow your mind to wander.
• For those few moments, leave behind your worries and be fully present before Allah.
• Continue this practice consistently at every main meal.
• Trust Allah, remain patient and continue your daily remembrance with hope and gratitude.
• Keep measuring your sugar for 10–15 days — and watch the positive change unfold.
• You’ll notice not only your sugar levels stabilising, but also a sense of balance and strength in your body — as if your organs are being protected through Allah’s mercy.
Important: Continue taking your medicines as prescribed.

The Purpose

The purpose of this practice is to transform an everyday meal into a moment of remembrance.

Rather than eating with a distracted mind, we pause, remember Allah and consciously place our trust in Him. With sincerity and consistency, this practice encourages gratitude, mindfulness and a deeper awareness of Allah’s presence in our daily lives.

It reminds us that every blessing comes from Him, every provision comes from Him and every healing is by His permission alone. The Quran is a source of guidance and Shifa, and the remembrance of Allah brings peace to the heart.

Important Reminder

Allah alone is Ash-Shafi, the One who grants healing.

This practice is a spiritual method shared through the Faiz of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA) and explained by Waris-e-Qalandar, Syed Baba. It is intended to encourage remembrance of Allah, gratitude and reliance upon Him while eating.
This practice does not replace medical care or treatment for diabetes or any other health condition. If you are living with diabetes, continue taking your prescribed medications, follow your healthcare professional’s advice, monitor your blood sugar as recommended and maintain any dietary or lifestyle guidance provided by your medical team.
