Water Therapy

Water is one of Allah’s greatest blessings. It gives life, quenches thirst and sustains every living being.

Through the Faiz of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA), this everyday blessing becomes a means of remembering Allah, finding inner peace and strengthening your reliance upon Him.
As explained by Syed Baba (Waris-e-Qalandar), Water Therapy is not about the water itself. It is about the state of the heart while drinking it.
For a few moments, leave the noise of the world behind. Become aware that Allah is near.
He sees you. He hears every unspoken prayer.
His mercy surrounds you before you even ask.
Drink every sip with that awareness.

Why Water Therapy?

Our lives are filled with constant distractions. Stress. Anxiety. Restlessness. Negative thoughts. The mind rarely becomes quiet.

Water Therapy creates small moments throughout the day in which you stop, remember Allah and reconnect with Him.

These moments gradually train the heart to return to Allah instead of becoming consumed by fear, worry or sadness.

As Allah says:

“Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Surah Ar-Ra’d 13:28)

The Method

Practice Water Therapy 8 to 10 times throughout the day.
Each session takes only a few moments.

Step 1 :

Sit comfortably with half a glass of water. Do not rush. Allow yourself to become still.

Step 2 :

Close your eyes. Let your breathing return to its natural rhythm.

Leave behind the worries, conversations and distractions of the world. For these few moments, there is nothing more important than turning your attention towards Allah.

Step 3 :

Become aware that Allah is near.He knows every thought you carry. He hears every unspoken prayer. His mercy surrounds you even before you ask. Allow your heart to rest in this awareness.

Step 4 :

Listen quietly to your heartbeat.

Step 5 :

With your eyes closed, say:
Allah…Allah…Allah… thrice in your heart

Step 6 :

Keeping your eyes closed, drink the water in three sips
This same practice may also be performed before sleeping each night.
Do not worry if your mind wanders at first.Every heart learns to focus differently.
Whenever distractions arise, gently return your attention to Allah.
With sincerity and consistency, these few quiet moments each day become moments of peace, gratitude and complete reliance upon your Creator

The Purpose of Water Therapy

Water Therapy is not about changing the water. It is about changing the state of the heart. It is to train the heart to remember Allah throughout the day.

As this remembrance becomes stronger, many people experience a greater sense of peace, patience and emotional balance.
Feelings of anxiety, inner restlessness, emotional heaviness and ghabrahat often become easier to manage because the heart is repeatedly returning to Allah instead of remaining trapped in fear and negative thoughts.
In the teachings of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA), water taken in this state of remembrance is described spiritually as Aab-e-Hayat and Aab-e-Shifa, while recognising that Allah alone is Ash-Shafi, the One who grants every cure and every blessing.

It may also be practised by children under the age of 12 with appropriate guidance from a parent or guardian.

Important Reminder

Water Therapy is a spiritual practice shared through the Faiz of Qalandar Baba Bukhari (RA) and explained by Syed Baba (Waris-e-Qalandar). It encourages remembrance of Allah, gratitude and reliance upon Him.

Healing comes from Allah alone. Water Therapy is not a substitute for medical or psychological care. If you are receiving treatment for any physical or mental health condition, continue your prescribed care while placing your trust and hope in Allah.
